Sanur by the seaside; at least I am no longer the oldest person around. It is a bit of a haven for retirees-especially old men with young Balinese women, who obviously love them for their good looks and witty personalities.
Our resort Kembali Lagi is a small family run villa, owned by an American and is quiet and friendly. It is down a quaint ally lined with other posh villas-Balinese who have made it! The only noise being a very active rooster-alas, no bull frogs. How i miss them in the room.
Our days have become very lazy, breakfast, massage, lunch, manicure, dinner and then sitting around the pool sipping iced wine. The Housewife continues her daily yoga sessions.
Last night we discovered a brand new uber posh resort which has just opened, and to entice the punters in, happy hour has fantastic cocktails at very reasonable prices. It was a pure pleasure sitting in their pavilion facing the ocean, sipping mango margaritas. We didn’t even think we could afford to be there, it was so flash. Needless to say we will be back there again on the dot of 5! It is The Maya Resort, which is also offering nearly 50% off their rates for June. I would stay here next time.
The food has been sensational- so much better than Mexico and &%$#@ Cuba! We think it is mainly due to the many Australians who have opened cafes, bars and eateries. There is certainly a big Ozzie flavour, on most of the menus- vegemite, lamb and pavlova; and of course all the raw food and wonderful juices you can poke a stick at. So much better than the local restaurants at the coast. We switch between local and cheap, and slightly more upmarket and international.
The money continues to flip me out- there are so many zeros, and I really am alarmed about being ‘on the ball in Bali’ when The Housewife leaves tonight; it is another problem of being a SOFT…She has a horrendous backwards flight with Emirates flight via Dubai and on to California Dreaming.
Last night we had a farewell, and early birthday dinner at The Three Monkeys;lots of Ozzie lamb on the menu and MUM champagne, so appropriate. The Housewife also organised a surprise birthday cake and candles, with the whole restaurant joining in and wondering how old I was because they all looked about 12 years old.!
So darling Miss PP as the Balinese call her, is leaving on a very exciting journey-and I am leaving on Monday for a few days in Singapore. I will not be writing my blog on my ipad…Miss PP has the laptop. Tumblr causes me nothing but grief on my ipad. I want to change to a better platform, and would welcome any advice. Apparently Yahoo bought out Tumblr, and then the problems started. They changed to a new App which does not allow photos to upload ; and of course there is no reliable help/support desk. Just another one of life’s challenges when one is a SOFT and struggling with technology.
